Pamela Canter, Partner

Pamela R. Canter is a Certified Family Law Specialist, and her family law practice includes Collaborative Practice, mediation, private judging, settlement conference facilitation, consultation, creation of pre-marital and post-marital agreements, and other transactional family law work. Prior to the formation of Canter Hagan LLP, Pamela owned and operated Canter Moorhead for fifteen years. She is a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, California Women Lawyers, and the state and local Family Law Bar Associations' sections. Her involvement with the San Mateo County Bar Association includes serving on the Board of Directors, as the Chair of the Family Law Section for three years, as a member of the Bench and Bar Committee, the Membership Committee, the Charitable Giving Committee, and as a Director of the Women Lawyers Legal Education Foundation. In 1999, Pamela co-founded the Peninsula Collaborative Family Law Group (now known as Collaborative Practice San Mateo County). She received her undergraduate degree in Romance Languages from New York University in 1989, and her law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1992. Pamela is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has been named a Super Lawyer (top 5% of Northern California Lawyers) each year since 2005, and has an AVVO rating of 10.




Anne Arnold Hagan’s family law practice focuses on litigation, acting as consulting counsel to parties in mediation, and drafting pre-marital and post-marital agreements. Anne has fifteen years of litigation experience—most recently with Hanson Crawford Crum Family Law Group LLP where she worked on high equity cases dealing with complex financial issues such as the division of private equity and venture capital. She has extensive civil litigation experience from her work at a boutique law firm in San Francisco and has worked on dozens of matters before private judges and in public courthouses in the Counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Marin. Anne is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Family Law sections of the California State Bar and the San Mateo County Bar Association. Anne received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis and obtained her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law. While in law school, Anne received the Best Brief Award in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition as well as the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Writing and Research. Throughout law school she clerked at Cotchett, Pitre and McCarthy. Prior to law school, Anne worked in the Clinton Administration.

Anne is active in the community. She volunteers with the San Francisco Bar Association’s Volunteer Legal Services Program. She served for several years on Redwood City’s Historic Resources Advisory Committee and is a graduate of the Leadership Program (ten month program for community leaders to engage in face-to-face discussions with experts and key decision makers in San Mateo, Foster City, Burlingame, and Hillsborough). In 2009 she graduated from Emerge California, the premier training program for Democratic women interested in running for public office.

Lisa's family law practice includes collaborative practice, mediation, consultation, preparation of pre-marital and post-marital agreements, as well as litigation. She is a member of the California and San Mateo County Family Law and Trusts and Estates Sections. Lisa’s involvement in family law in San Mateo began in 1988 when she served as law clerk to the Honorable Rosemary Pfeiffer of the San Mateo Superior Court. Lisa is an active legal volunteer, including serving as a volunteer attorney for Lawyers in the Library and the Ask a Lawyer program on KALW Radio. Lisa volunteers as a mediator for the San Mateo Superior Court as well as the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. She is also actively involved in the San Mateo community as a Neighborhood Watch Block Captain and Community Emergency Response Team Member. In addition to working as an attorney, Lisa has served as workshop leader for Kids’ Turn and Kids in the Middle at the Family Services Agency in San Mateo. Lisa graduated from Stanford University with a Psychology major in 1985. She received her JD from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall) in 1988. Lisa holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from New College of California which she received in 1997. In her spare time Lisa enjoys singing with Viva La Musica, attending San Francisco 49er games, and spending time with her husband and three children.




Karyn brings more than 10 years of family law experience to Canter Hagan. She assists attorneys with all phases of dissolutions, custody and support cases as well as all aspects of litigation. Her experience includes drafting letters, motions, discovery, discovery responses and other legal documents; locating, gathering and summarizing client and third-party documents for purposes of discovery and fact-finding; analyzing complicated financial and legal documents; communicating with clients, experts and witnesses; coordinating the exchange of information with co-counsel and outside vendors; and preparing for trial. Karyn received a Bachelor of Arts in French from Linfield College and earned her paralegal certificate from Cañada College.
