ANNE ARNOLD HAGAN, PARTNER

Anne Arnold Hagan’s family law practice focuses on mediation, Collaborative Practice, serving as consulting counsel to parties in mediation, and preparing pre-marital and post-marital agreements. In addition, Anne accepts a select number of litigation cases. Anne has been practicing law in California since 2004 and specializing in Family Law since 2011.

Anne is trained in mediation by The Center for Understanding in Conflict and devotes a significant amount of her practice to mediating disputes. Anne presents a unique combination of skills which allow her to facilitate resolution of complicated dissolutions. She is an empathetic, intuitive individual with a high level of technical skills.

Anne has nineteen years of litigation experience—nine in her current role as a Founding Partner of Canter Hagan LLP, and previously with Hanson Crawford Crum Family Law Group LLP where she worked on high asset cases dealing with complex financial issues. Prior to Hanson Crawford Crum, Anne worked in litigation related to environmental planning at a boutique law firm in San Francisco.

Anne has worked on hundreds of matters before private judges and in public courthouses in the Counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Marin. Anne served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association. She is a member of the Family Law section of the California State Bar, the San Mateo County Bar Association, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Collaborative Practice San Mateo County, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Anne received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis and obtained her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law. Throughout law school she clerked at Cotchett, Pitre and McCarthy. Prior to law school, Anne worked in the Clinton Administration and at the Women’s Legal Defense Fund. Anne currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Redwood Shores Community Association, where she lives with her husband and two sons.

debra l. demera, attorney

Debra L. DeMera is an attorney whose family law experience includes litigation, mediation, collaborative law, and drafting pre-marital and post-marital agreements. Debra began her family law practice with Canter Moorhead in 2000, then left the profession to raise her family. She is an active member of the California State Bar. Debra received her undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University and obtained her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law. While in law school, she was a judicial extern for Commissioner Susan B. King, San Francisco Superior Court, Family Law Division.

Debra is a compassionate, skilled family law practitioner who is committed to supporting the needs of the client and providing you with the greatest opportunities of reaching a settlement that is cost-effective and beneficial to all parties involved.

Pamela Canter, retired Partner

Pamela R. Canter is a Certified Family Law Specialist, and her family law practice includes Collaborative Practice, mediation, private judging, settlement conference facilitation, consultation, creation of pre-marital and post-marital agreements, and other transactional family law work. Prior to the formation of Canter Hagan LLP, Pamela owned and operated Canter Moorhead for fifteen years. She is a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, California Women Lawyers, and the state and local Family Law Bar Associations' sections. Her involvement with the San Mateo County Bar Association includes serving on the Board of Directors, as the Chair of the Family Law Section for three years, as a member of the Bench and Bar Committee, the Membership Committee, the Charitable Giving Committee, and as a Director of the Women Lawyers Legal Education Foundation. In 1999, Pamela co-founded the Peninsula Collaborative Family Law Group (now known as Collaborative Practice San Mateo County). She received her undergraduate degree in Romance Languages from New York University in 1989, and her law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1992. Pamela is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has been named a Super Lawyer (top 5% of Northern California Lawyers) each year since 2005, and has an AVVO rating of 10.
